Adventure Histories offers engaging Viking shows that are brought directly to your school, lasting from 1 to 4 hours. Our shows combine an oral lecture and multimedia presentation with hands-on demonstrations, allowing students to interact directly with historically accurate replica artefacts. Adventure Histories  provides shows for Secondary and Upper Primary school students. This is a mobile service provided to schools within approximately 2 hours of Albury, NSW.Â
Our content is explicitly linked to syllabus outcomes and can be customised to suit your specific year level or teaching unit. We can explore a wide range of facets of the Viking Age, including:
-The Scandinavian Context - Everyday life in the Viking homelands (geography, culture, folklore, sources of evidence, social hierarchy, beliefs, and everyday life).
-Expanding Contacts - Viking trade and military connections with other peoples (changing technologies, ships, weapons, armour, values, conquests, trade connections, explorations, strategies and tactics for raiding and conquests).
-Viking Legacies - Enduring Viking impacts on the world (significant individuals, conquests, relationships with other peoples, and influences in modern culture).Â
Presentations are built on extensive teaching experience and align directly with educational outcomes, featuring:

PresentationÂ
Multimedia presentation where information and an historical overview are given, artefacts are displayed and explained with specific detail, and demonstrations of use are given. Students and staff volunteers are invited into demonstrations to enhance involvement in the presentation.Â
Artefact Interaction IntermissionÂ
All students are able to interact and handle artefacts with guidance and ask any questions in an open forum discussion. Students can also dress in authentic costumes, armour, and handle weapons (under supervision), and of course ask any further questions they might have.
Please note, if student behaviour is considered by our educator as unsuitable for artefact interaction this segment may be reduced, delayed or removed from the day program.
Structure
Some schools prefer to have several classes together for the day and experience different shows one after the other. eg Classes A, B, and C all experiencing together The Scandinavian Context, Expanding Contacts and Viking Legacies.Â
Other schools prefer to have the same show run multiple times over the day with different classes being present to reduce numbers and increase interaction time with artefacts. eg Expanding Contacts first with class A, then class B, then class C.Â
